Jennifer Coolidge Harville

Jennifer Harville is the great-grand daughter of President and Mrs. Calvin Coolidge. Jennifer uses her engaging presentation style to convey the inspirational story of Calvin’s formative years in Plymouth, Vermont and his move to study at Amherst College in Massachusetts.  As Calvin begins his career in law and local politics in Northampton, Massachusetts, he meets and marries Grace Goodhue from Burlington, VT and the couple bears two sons, John, and Calvin Jr. The Coolidge family story is compelling and intriguing.  President Coolidge faces tests and challenges during the course his political growth.  The family experiences a time of great sorrow when it mourns the tragic and untimely demise of Calvin Jr. at the White House during the Coolidge Presidency.

“Why do I give these talks?  Well, since the passings of my mother and aunt, my brother, cousin, and I remain as the oldest living generation of direct descendants from President Coolidge's family.  I feel privileged to enhance the legacy of Calvin Coolidge by sharing the story of his ascent into politics from his rural farm beginnings and my experiences as a member of the Coolidge family.”

Jennifer has composed several written pieces about the Coolidge family. She wrote an article titled “John Coolidge – The Story of Our Loving, Humble, Grandfather and Patriarch,” Our America Magazine. October 2020, Vol. 1, No. 2:20-22.  Most recently, she authored “Afterword to the New Edition,” The Autobiography of Calvin Coolidge, edited by the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation, 2021, pp. 163-166.

Jennifer lives in Westmoreland, NH with her husband David, their son Jake, and daughter Sheridan. She is a stay-at-home mother who enjoys volunteering at her local church. She enjoys music, traveling, reading, and singing.
