Michael R. Pence
Forty-Eighth Vice President of the United States
Michael R. Pence was born in Columbus, Indiana, on June 7, 1959. His parents started a successful convenience store business in their small Indiana town, imbuing in Mike and his five siblings the importance of hard work, faith, and family.
After completing law school, Pence married the love of his life, Karen. In the years that followed Pence practiced law, led the Indiana Policy Review Foundation, and hosted The Mike Pence Show on radio.
His fellow Hoosiers honored Pence by electing him to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000. For six terms in Congress, Pence championed fiscal responsibility, economic development, educational opportunity, and the U.S. Constitution.
After election as the fiftieth Governor of Indiana in 2012, Pence enacted the largest income tax cut in Indiana history, lowering individual income tax rates, the business personal property tax, and the corporate income tax. His reforms attracted new investment. Joblessness dropped by half. The budget remained balanced. As governor, Pence also led lawmakers in increasing school funding, expanding school choice, and creating the first state-funded Pre-K plan in Indiana history.
In 2016, Donald Trump tapped the Indiana governor as the vice presidential candidate. During the Covid pandemic, the Vice President led Operation Warp Speed, the successful public-private partnership to develop a vaccine and bring it to market. On January 6, 2021, Vice President Pence honored the Constitution by certifying the results of the 2020 election.
In 2021, Pence founded Americans Advancing Freedom, a think tank to promote the core values of family, faith, and liberty. He is author, most recently, of What Conservatives Believe: Rediscovering the Conservative Conscience (2026) and So Help Me God (2022), a memoir of his service.

One day a doctor and his wife, a pharmacist, left a communist country, Yugoslavia, to make their way in America. The transition cost them much, but they placed hope in the life America could offer their children.
Their son, Dr. Vlad Coric, fulfilled their dream. Since July 2001, Dr. Coric has served as an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. He previously served as inpatient chief of the Yale Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit and director of the Yale Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Research Clinic. Dr. Coric has authored more than 65 peer-reviewed publications.
Moved by the same desire to prevent patient suffering, Dr. Coric next built Biohaven—a start-up—into a modern, publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Dr. Coric led the company through its first FDA approval and launch of Nurtec ODT for the acute treatment of migraine. Biohaven widened the treatment options for hundreds of millions of people living with migraine worldwide.
Under Dr. Coric’s leadership, Biohaven grew from an initial pre-money valuation of approximately $6 million to approximately $13 billion, the amount Pfizer paid in 2022 for acquisition of its CGRP migraine portfolio.
Today, as Chairman and CEO, Dr. Coric leads Biohaven as a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company built on the same commitment to help underserved patients. The company is advancing therapies across neurological, immunological, metabolic and oncological diseases. Dr. Coric has been named one of the Top 25 Healthcare Technology Leaders in Connecticut and received the 2018 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® Award in the New York region.
